After School Club

We run an afterschool club for children from Hertford Juniors and Infants and children from St Josephs.   We also run a breakfast club - please contact the school for details.

Healthy bodies, healthy minds

We believe exercise is vital to a child's development so we encourage them to try out a range of physical activities ranging from football to dance.  There's loads of room for them to run around here!  We encourage them to eat and drink healthily too, and our national 'Healthy Schools' Silver award is a testament to our commitment to their well-being.

State-of-the-art technology

We understand that computers can be powerful learning tools when used properly.  Ofsted has praised our staff for the good use they make of new technologies such as computers, interactive whiteboards and digital video cameras.  We have a fantastic ICT suite, where children can use a range of technologies, and computers and interactive whiteboards in all our classrooms.

Support and challenge

We know our children.  If they demonstrate a talent or gift we offer opportunities for enrichment and challenge, and when children need additional support, we make sure it's there.

"Children with special educational needs have particularly close relationships with teachers and other adults that help them to make the best progress they can." Ofsted.

Our pupils

"Teaching and learning are good.  Excellent relationships ensure that pupils are highly motivated and enjoy learning." Ofsted.

We want our pupils to be responsible, so we give them responsibilities like the school council.  Pupils are proud of their school.

Creativity

Giving children the chance to express their creativity is key to building their confidence, and has a tremendous effect on their overall performance at school.  We encourage them to try different types of art, music and writing using everything from paintbrushes and instruments to the latest computer technology.  Our commitment to encouraging creativity has been recognised by the Arts Council, which has given us a Gold Artsmark - the highest award possible.

Environment

We encourage our children to take an interest in environmental issues through making best use of our wonderful grounds and learning through nature.  We have an active eco-club and our work was highly commended at the city's most recent 'Environmental Oscars'. We have an active team of eco-councillors who are:

Shannon Perrin and Charlie Butcher from Year 6

Ash Griffin and Ellise Wilson from Year 5

Ross Connor and Josh Dawson from Year 4

Kayleigh Ford and Jesse Kendall from Year 3.

School Council

The school council is a boy and girl chosen from each year group by the pupils of each class they're in.  The school councillors are people that take ideas from everyone in the school.  Mr. Weiner and the school councillors have done so much for the school such as shelters, new basket ball posts, new markings on the playground and much, much more!   The school councillors at the moment are:

- Archie Lawson and Ruth Purbrick from Year 6

- Jamie Field and Fred Seyd from Year 5

- Ayan Halley-Gehrels and Ross Connor from Year 4

- Chloe White and Nana Frimpong from Year 3.
